RSS Feed

RSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a protocol of web feed formats used to publish digital content that is frequently updated. An RSS feed can be utilized in such web content as blogs, newsfeeds, advertisements, podcasts, and audiocasts.

RSS content is often viewed using a program called an 'aggregator' or 'reader'. A user can subscribe to an RSS feed by posting a link to the source of their RSS feed - often portrayed with one of these icons:



Once a user has subscribed to an RSS feed using an RSS reader or RSS aggregator they can access the feed and have it automatically refresh its content if the RSS source has refreshed from the source RSS server.

RSS formats use XML as a data format, often called an "RSS stream", "RSS feed", "RSS channel" or "webfeed".
